Preventive and Diagnostic Care – The most important services we provide as pediatric dentists are preventive and diagnostic, as this is the care that lays the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health. Our preventive and diagnostic services include routine oral evaluations, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instruction, digital radiographs, and dental sealants.

Orthodontic Services – To serve our patients better, we offer pediatric dental care and orthodontic services all under one roof. The orthodontists at Tender Smiles 4 Kids offer both Phase 1 and Phase 2 treatment, including metal braces, clear braces and Invisalign.

Restorative Dentistry – Whether it’s due to decay or dental trauma, sometimes teeth become damaged and need to be repaired. We offer fillings, the Icon procedure, pulp treatment, and dental crowns to restore strength and function to compromised teeth. If restorative dentistry is not an option, we also offer tooth extractions.

Laser Dentistry – Our pediatric dentists are trained in using both hard and soft tissue lasers. Laser dentistry makes dental procedures like treating cavities and frenectomies to treat lip and tongue ties comfortable and trauma-free.

Cosmetic Dentistry – We want your child to be proud of their natural smile, but sometimes after an accident, they can feel embarrassed about chips, fractures, and other damage. We offer safe, gentle cosmetic treatments like bonding to correct cosmetic imperfections in such circumstances.

Special Needs Dentistry – We specialize in providing compassionate dental care to special needs patients and their families.

Sedation Dentistry – Dental sedation is sometimes needed in order to provide treatment safely and effectively. Sedation options include nitrous oxide, IV sedation, conscious oral sedation, and general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

What does a pediatric dentist do?

Pediatric dentists receive an additional two to three years of education and training after graduating from dental school, allowing us to provide specialized care to children and special needs patients. We provide many of the same services as general dentists, but our techniques and tools are tailored to children to make their dental visits more comfortable and their treatments more effective.

How are lasers used in pediatric dentistry?

We offer both hard tissue and soft tissue lasers to make your child’s dental treatments faster, easier, and less painful. We use our lasers for frenectomies, gum contouring, treating cold and canker sores, preparing teeth for fillings or crowns, biopsies, gum disease, and fusing tissues.

How often should children see the dentist?

Just like adults, children need to see the dentist every six months for oral evaluations and dental cleanings. If your child has frequent cavities or gingivitis, we may recommend more frequent appointments for closer monitoring.

When should children start seeing a dentist?

Your child’s first dental visit should be around their first birthday or within six months of the eruption of their first tooth—whichever comes first. These early visits help your child feel comfortable at our office, allow us to provide you with oral hygiene instruction, and give us the opportunity to identify any issues with your child’s dentition.
