We offer the following pediatric dental services at our practice:

Preventive and Diagnostic Care – Preventive and diagnostic care are at the heart of our dental practice. These services help us lay the foundation for a lifetime of good oral health. Our preventive and diagnostic services include routine oral evaluations, dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, oral hygiene instruction, digital radiographs, and dental sealants.

Orthodontic Services – To make coordinating care seamless, we offer both pediatric dentistry and orthodontic services all under one roof. The orthodontists at Tender Smiles 4 Kids offer Phase 1 and Phase 2 treatment, including metal braces, clear braces and Invisalign.

Restorative Dentistry – Even with diligent care, children’s teeth can be damaged by decay and dental trauma. Dental fillings, the Icon procedure, pulp treatment, and dental crowns can be used to restore strength and function to compromised teeth when this occurs. If restorative dentistry is not an option, a tooth extraction may be needed to preserve your child’s oral health.

Laser Dentistry – Our pediatric dentists are trained in using hard and soft tissue lasers to make dental procedures like cavities and frenectomies easier and trauma-free.

Cosmetic Dentistry – We want your child to be proud of their natural smile, but sometimes cosmetic imperfections like chips and stains make them feel self-conscious about their teeth. In these situations, we offer safe, gentle cosmetic dentistry for kids.

Special Needs Dentistry – Our entire team is trained to provide understanding, compassionate dental care to special needs patients and their families.

Sedation Dentistry – It’s always best when children are active participants in their dental care, but sometimes sedation is needed to provide treatment safely and effectively. Our dental sedation options include nitrous oxide, IV sedation, conscious oral sedation, and general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

What does a pediatric dentist do?

After graduating from dental school, pediatric dentists go on to receive two to three more years of schooling and training preparing us to provide specialized care for children and special needs patients. Although we offer many of the same services as general dentists, our tools and techniques are tailored to the unique needs of children to make their dental visits more comfortable and their treatments more effective.

How are lasers used in pediatric dentistry?

There are two types of dental lasers: hard tissue and soft tissue. We use both at our practice. Hard tissue lasers are used to prepare teeth for dental fillings or crowns, while soft tissue lasers are used for frenectomies, gum contouring, cold and canker sore treatment, biopsies, gum disease, and fusing tissues.

How often should children see the dentist?

No matter your age, the recommendation is the same—everyone should see the dentist twice a year for oral evaluations and dental cleanings, including kids! Occasionally, we may recommend more frequent checkups for children who need closer monitoring.

When should children start seeing a dentist?

It’s recommended that your child’s first dental visit is around their first birthday or within six months of the eruption of their first tooth—whichever comes first.
